Home China Restaurant : An Interlaken Find

Dear Readers

Traveling always provides an opportunity to try out new cuisines and new foods from all around the world. Whenever I am traveling to a colder climate, I look for a nice South-East Asian restaurant to indulge myself in their hot and spicy soup bowls or stir fry. After having the easiest option of Pizzas and pastas at the start of my holiday, I was on the lookout for a good Chinese restaurant which had enough veggie and non-veg options that I could eat.

I was thrilled when I spotted this amazing quaint place in Interlaken one day while I was casually strolling in the main shopping street area. Amidst the hustling and bustling street, I came across this glass cube structure that immediately caught my eye. It was a tiny Chinese restaurant named “Home China Restaurant” addressed at Bahnhofstrasse, 4a, 3800 Interlaken, Switzerland.

I entered in the restaurant and was greeted by the manager who was quick to provide me with a table. The first thing that I noticed about the place was how welcoming it was. Though tiny and with limited seating, the place was so vibrant. The glass structure provided natural light to flow into the space and gave it a cosy and bright ambience. The kitchen was an open plan sort, where if you are tall enough you can see the secret recipes of the chef.

The menu was quite extensive however since I am a picky meat eater I chose my dishes with the help of the manager as the language in which the menu was printed was Swiss-German.

Since it was a cold day, I had opted for a Hot ‘n’ Sour chicken soup along with Chicken stir fry noodles. The manager of the restaurant was super helpful and didn’t let me over-order.

Whilst I was sipping up my iced tea and enjoying my view through the glass walls, I couldn’t help but notice the amazing dishes that were being served on the other tables. Every dish was pipping hot and judging by the facial expressions of the guests they were all enjoying their meals. Most of the guests came from different parts of South East Asia, so having seen them being satisfied with the food being served was a plus.

The restaurant was filled with mouth-watering aromas of the asian spices and I was so happy when I was served with my order. The quality, taste and quantity of the food was top notch. The taste was very authentic and the service was impeccable.

If you are in Interlaken then I would highly recommend this place. Since the seating is limited you might have to wait during the peak hours but its worth it. Please do try it if you get the chance. https://www.homechinarestaurant.com
