Last month during my Europe travels I got a chance to explore Interlaken. Being a touristy town the hotels in this area were very expensive. But I was lucky that I got a good deal on this property called “Hotel Chalet Swiss” which was addressed at Seestrasse 22, 3800, Interlaken. I stayed in this property for two nights and paid approximately INR 19,400 or CHF 210.60. Morning breakfast was included in my package deal.

I had arrived at the hotel at about 11am, since it was still early and the check-in time was 2pm, I wasn’t allotted the room. However, the hotel had the facility to store the luggage so that guests can explore the town freely and I decided to do just that. At the hotel reception, I was also given a free bus pass which was valid through the days of my stay in Interlaken which I thought was a very helpful gesture for any tourist.
After exploring a bit, I returned to my hotel at the decided check-in time and all the formalities were smoothly completed. The reception staff was very friendly and was patient enough to answer all my touristy questions.
The hotel had an elevator service to access the floors.
Whenever you book a hotel using a website, there is always a case where the photos are very different from the reality but with this property I was pleasantly surprised as the photos on the online booking sites didn’t do justice.
I had opted for a single room as I was traveling solo and the room was very spacious. I had feared it would be cramped but it was very thoughtfully designed. The interiors of the room reflected a Chalet with all the wooden floorings and it provided a very cosy feel to it. There was an open cupboard section to hang your clothings and keep your regular items. The room also came with a seating area and a separate desk area.

The bathroom of room was very thoughtfully designed. It’s aesthetics were complimentary to the chalet style theme of the room as well as was modern enough for the users. The bedding, though single, was quite spacious and comfortable.

The wifi provided by the hotel was very good and one can easily surf and entertain themselves. I was very lucky and I was given the front facing room. Everyday I woke up to the breathtaking view of the Swiss alps.

The only drawback that I felt was that the lighting in the room was a bit less. The room came to life when you opened the curtains and when the day light would enter in but after sunset when it went dark, I would have preferred some more ceiling lights rather than table lamps.
The location of the hotel was very good. It was just a 7-10 minute walk from the train station/city centre. The breakfast spread was pretty decent as well. There was a selection of different breads, cereals, fruits and yogurts along with a scrambled eggs and bacon options. The buffet also offered different types of teas, juices and coffee.
All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay somewhere nice and are also on a budget. Though CHF 210.60 for two nights would seem expensive to most of you, but trust me the prices of hotels in Interlaken are even higher and during the peak season they sell out pretty fast. Hence, I would really advice the people who are planning to go there to book their accommodation as early as possible to get hold of good properties at good rates.
